Sacred Games Reviews
All the episodes have something so unique that it’s hard not to watch all of them back-to-back. After a long time, you get to see Saif Ali Khan, the actor and not the star. This is definitely his best performance in a no-nonsense role after a long time and he delivers on every front. Radhika Apte delivers as usual: realistic, believable performance. No doubt she’s one of the best actresses we have in India. Nawazuddin… He has totally sunken his teeth and pumped life into the character of Gaitonde. Watch out for his emotional scenes and you’ll be shocked by his excellence. The rest of the cast does it part extremely well.
This show really gave me the goosebumps. Wow!!! I wasn’t expecting so much thrill. This show will go for long. When coming to the acting of all, Nawazzudin just stole the show. He is the sutradhaar of this show just like Morgan Freeman from The Shawshank Redemption. It was also good to see Saif Ali Khan do a role like Sartaj Singh which shows the dilemma of policemen of what he goes through. It was good to see him out of his mainstream role. Radhika Apte had a small but important role which was performed well. Not these lead actors only but also the other actors(like guruji, katekar) as well who performed with so much conviction that they also left a mark to it.
Pros of Watching Sacred Games
- The rawness of the story which is set in Mumbai and shows the phases it has gone through.
- No superficial and fantasy or glamour element and it is close to realism.
- Deals with corruption, mafia, political scandals over the years, and organized crime which involves eminent personalities as well including their pasts.
Cons of Watching Sacred Games
- The best thing is there might be a second season as well because this show right now is in a cliffhanger where things have just started to open.
- This show has definitely set the bar high for other upcoming shows and It is worth a watch.
2. Lust Stories
Lust Stories is a collection of four short stories made by some of India’s most famous filmmakers. The anthology series features the stories of Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar. Radhika Apte, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Neha Dhupia, and Sanjay Kapoor are some of the notable names that have attracted the cast of the series. The central theme is, of course, that of lust. However, each story has a different message. Apte’s first story is about a married woman eager to explore her sexuality.
The second story is of Bhumi Pednekar and Neil Bhupalam. It sheds light on an unlikely connection between the help of a man and his household. The third follows the story of a couple who deal with infidelity and the difficult choices they are forced to make. The final episode of the series is a comic story of a housewife who seeks sexual intimacy with her husband. Instead, she finds it with the vibrator under the most unusual circumstances.
Some people may also get crass for their taste in Mirzapur, but it is the most entertaining Indian original series to date. Great performances by Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Vikrant Massey are a definite plus for those watching this crime thriller.
The show revolves around the very real mafia rivalry prevalent in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. To save his father, two brothers, Guddu (Faizal) and Bablu (Massey), mafia don Kalen Bhaiya’s (Tripathi) becomes part of the nefarious work. Through time, these innocent youth turn into full-fledged violent criminals.
Another Amazon Prime video is the story of the Indian original series, Breath Pyar and Despair. A father will go to any extent, to the point of killing people, to save his son. Sounds all too familiar? Yeah right, this is the plot of many Hollywood movies, including the famous Denzel Washington starrer John Q.
In Breathe, the protagonist, Danny (R. Madhavan), realizes that his son Josh is terminal and in need of a transplant. He then devises a plan to get Josh’s name at the top of the organ donor list, but his methods are not as traditional as you might think. Danny’s trouble is further exacerbated when he finds himself the subject of a police investigation, one he wanted to avoid.
5. Delhi Crime
Based on the most shocking and heartbreaking rape incidents in New Delhi, India’s capital, this seven-part series will shake you to the very core. Delhi Crime is commonly referred to as the Nirbhaya rape case in India. The incident also received a lot of international attention at that time, because of the horrific nature of the crime. However, most media reports focused on the victim and the incident alone.
Filmmaker Richie Mehta takes the audience behind the scenes investigating the case conducted by the Delhi Police. The series navigates through bureaucratic pressures, political influences, and lack of resources faced by the Delhi Police during the investigation period.
